Angels Among Us!

Dear Editor;

This holiday season provides so many opportunities to reflect on the important things in life, such as family, faith, joy, hope and peace.  As I reflect on the year that is drawing to a close this holiday season, I can’t help but feel deep gratitude for the angels who give and support our community that live among us.  As Executive Director of Meals on Wheels London, I am moved and blessed to observe over 400 dedicated volunteers bring the spirit of the season into the lives of seniors and people living with disabilities every day of the year as they provide meal and transportation services.

These wingless angels are, for over 26% of our meal clients, the only person who visits them in a week.  They are bringing a meal or providing a ride, but in their simple acts they provide a sense of community through conversation, and joy as they share a joke or funny story.  Their miracles don’t stop at providing nourishment for the body and soul, they additionally provide the hope of their next visit, and the peace of knowing that someone will be checking in on our clients and following up on their health and safety.

Dear Editor, please help me in sharing with our city the amazing impact of the simple acts done with great love that our volunteers do all year long with your readers.  Let everyone know that their dedication and kindness is ensuring that over 2000 people in our community are getting great meals and access to their medical appointments thanks to their generosity!  This Christmas I wish that each one would know how appreciated they are, and that each one of us has the ability to make a similar difference in the lives of people in our community.   I invite anyone to join this team of Angels in the year ahead by contacting Meals on Wheels London or visiting our website at

Merry Christmas to all our volunteers and clients, our donors and supporters and community partners.  We truly could not provide over 122,000 meals or 8000 drives to medical appointments without you!

Happy Holidays and if you see an angel, would you thank them for us!
